“Gone, But Not Forgotten”, 10 am to 11:30 am. Presented by Blythe Stokes in the Carlsbad City Council Chambers, 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive, Carlsbad, CA 92008.
As avid genealogists we all are interested in our ancestors, their lives and their deaths. We order death certificates and look for obituaries as part of our research. One source of information that is often overlooked is where they are buried. Find A Grave is a free location where you can search for relatives and ancestors. The website also allows you to add burial records for people in your family tree and add memorials such as flowers. Find out how Find A Grave can help in your research.
Blythe has been involved in genealogy off and on since the early 1970’s. After retiring from teaching Science and working for NASA/JPL, she is fully involved in completing the family trees for both her Stokes and Stout lines. Blythe was bitten by the Find A Grave bug when she used the website to discover the cemetery and the headstone for her 2nd great grandmother who died August 28, 1878 during the great Yellow Fever Epidemic in Grenada, Mississippi.
