Today’s topic is “Civil War POW Camps”, presented by Mary Anne Vincent. Part of Mary Anne’s interest in Civil War POW camps stems from her great-great grandfather’s brother dying in Andersonville in 1864. He was dead for six months before his family was notified.
Mary Anne Vincent is a 20-year member of the Delaware Genealogical Society, a 10-year member of the Corona Genealogical Society and has served on its Board of Directors for seven years. She is also the Secretary for the California State Genealogical Alliance.
Mary Anne taught grades 6-12 for several decades and now is an occasional substitute teacher for the Riverside County Office of Education. She has been working on her family tree since 1971 and has recently completed a book on one line of her father’s side. As part of the research for the book, she has been in touch with literally dozens of second, third, fifth, and seventh cousins, each of whom generously provided family information. The book was published by CreateSpace and can also be found on Amazon.com.
