The theme for the NSDCGS Intermediate Classes in 2018 is “Documents: Back to Basics, Forward to Access.” Each class will take an in-depth look at a record group focusing on the origins of the records, the information provided by the records, their importance to genealogy research, and ways to access the records both online and off.

Federal Census presented by Dorothy Miller

Dorothy Miller will present the next class on the Federal Census. Federal Census records are an important resource for every genealogist. Federal censuses were taken every ten years from 1790 to now and the information provided in them has increased and changed with every decade. The class will cover the historical context, their usefulness, where they are held and how to access them.

State Census presented by Margaret Read

Margaret Read will present the next class on State Census Records. In this presentation, Margaret will address the availability of state census records, when and where they were taken, and what we can find today. She will also speak a bit about how state census records have helped her in her own family research.
