Topic: San Diego’s Waterfront Through the Eyes of a Child presented by Jim Bregante
Take a historical journey along the waterfront and Little Italy from the 1930’s to the present. Jim shares his experience of growing up in Little Italy, near all the vibrant waterfront life, via a presentation featuring pictures from historical and family archives. Depicting his family’s start in the fishing industry, his experiences on the waterfront as a youth and life in Little Italy, Jim’s memories are shared and treasured by many San Diegans – and a great way for those who didn’t grow up here to learn about the history of the area. His presentation may inspire you to preserve some of your own childhood and family memories so they aren’t lost to your descendants!
Jim Bregante is a native San Diegan and an experienced speaker. Jim is a Docent for the San Diego Maritime Museum, a member of the San Diego History Center and the Italian Historical Society of San Diego. He developed his presentation at the request of the Maritime Museum, as part of a training program for docents. Little did he realize it would turn into a new career at this stage of his life!
