Today’s topic: Beyond the Book: Ideas for Sharing Your Genealogy with Family Members,” presented by Jean Tempke
Do your family’s eyes glaze over when you talk about your genealogy research? Are you looking for a way to get family members interested? Does the thought of writing a book intimidate you?
Come learn ideas for sharing your genealogy that will catch your family’s attention. Some are appropriate for gifts since the holidays will be here sooner than you realize! Others are unique ways to display your family history and heirlooms at home, or to help you analyze a particular aspect of your genealogy. Some are appropriate for children, or for your next family reunion or Thanksgiving dinner.
Categories to be covered include charts, written documents, photo projects, ideas for kids, miscellaneous items, resources and brief tips.
The program will be part presentation, and part show and tell by audience members. Please bring any items you would like to share. If you have a bulky item, feel free to email a picture to Jean Tempke at email@example.com by July 21 instead of bringing it to the meeting.
Jean Tempke has been Programs and Seminars Chair for NSDCGS since 2014, and was Secretary for four years prior to that. She has been doing genealogy research for 12 years and various crafts since childhood, and comes from a long line of people who treasure family photographs.
We welcome your participation to join in the sharing and/or present a brief case study! If you would like time to share at the member’s meeting or present a brief case study, you may contact our Program Chair, Jean Tempke, in advance, at firstname.lastname@example.org. Jean also welcomes volunteers to present topics of general genealogical interest to the members at large or a case study, either must be about an hour in length plus a few minutes for questions.
The Society sponsors coffee & sweets preceding each meeting. Please join us in the coffee room; on the left, inside the chamber. Note: only water is allowed in the chamber.
