Are You a beginner and don’t know where to start? Do you have a brick wall in your research? The Carlsbad library has Ask A Genealogist a one hour librarian consultation; or, for beginners and those who do not yet have a specific research question, you can email for general Genealogy resource help at the Carlsbad Library . Our research services are for Intermediate to Advanced Genealogy Research Researchers with a specific research question.
Non-Member Services:
Scope of services for non-Members:
- Internet Lookups or North San Diego County library lookups for a specific book or document. Lookups in person or online (limit of 3 per month).
- Research Suggestions for Genealogy resources using free sites or commercial websites available in person or online at the Genealogy Division of the Carlsbad Library (see the eResources tab).
- Although we are unable to guarantee the information requested will be found, we will do our best to assist you. Please allow two weeks before inquiring about your request.

Other research resources:
We do not provide: in person, courthouse research for birth, marriage, divorce or death certificates. Please contact the County of San Diego for these records. However, if you need to search for vital records on a genealogy database, we can provide guidance. We also do not provide paid research, please contact the Association for Professional Genealogists for their Professional Directory.
